Tusky offers a free tier by default and optional paid subscriptions for higher limits. All plans share the same storage model: Walrus storage costs are always paid in WAL from your managed wallet — the subscription covers only Tusky infrastructure (API, encryption, aggregators).

How it works

Walrus costs (WAL)

Storage always costs WAL tokens, deducted from your wallet per upload. This is fixed by the Walrus network — no plan changes it.

Tusky infrastructure (SUI)

API calls, aggregator bandwidth, encryption, and request handling are what your subscription covers. Paid monthly in SUI.
Every Tusky account starts on the Free plan with no credit card required. Upgrade when you need more capacity.

Free

0 SUI / month — no card requiredThe Free plan is a pay-as-you-go baseline. There is no monthly fee and no commitment. You get a modest allowance each month; once a limit is hit, requests are throttled until the next cycle or until you upgrade.

Walrus storage (WAL) is never included in any plan — it is always billed separately at current network rates from your managed wallet. This is by design: Tusky has no control over Walrus pricing.

Overage behavior

When you exceed a monthly limit the behaviour depends on which limit was hit:
Limit exceededBehavior
API requestsRequests return 429 Too Many Requests until the next billing cycle or until you upgrade.
Egress bandwidthDownloads through your aggregator are throttled to a lower rate. Files remain accessible — just slower.
Volumes / publishers / aggregatorsCreating new resources is blocked. Existing ones continue to work.
Watch your usage in the dashboard or via the usage API. You can upgrade mid-cycle at any time — the new limits apply immediately and you’re charged the prorated difference in SUI.

Free tier vs pay-as-you-go

The Free plan and pay-as-you-go serve different use cases:
Free planPay-as-you-go (x402)
Monthly feeNoneNone
API requests1,000 / month then throttledUnlimited, charged per request
Bandwidth5 GB / month then throttledUnlimited, charged per GB
Payment timingPrepaid (SUI in managed wallet for WAL)Per-request at call time
Best forGetting started, low-volume useVariable traffic, cost-per-request billing
The Free plan has hard monthly caps. Pay-as-you-go has no caps but meters every request. Both require WAL in your managed wallet for storage.

Switching plans

1

Open billing settings

Go to Settings → Billing in the Tusky dashboard.
2

Select a new plan

Choose the plan that fits your usage. You’ll see a preview of the prorated SUI charge before confirming.
3

Confirm

Payment is deducted in SUI from your connected wallet. Your new limits apply immediately.
Downgrading takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle. If your current usage exceeds the lower plan’s limits, new resource creation is blocked until usage drops back within limits — existing data is never deleted.
