Tusky can connect directly to your Dropbox account and migrate your files to the Walrus decentralized storage network. No manual downloads or uploads required — Tusky handles the transfer automatically once you authorize access.

How It Works

1

Authorize Dropbox

Connect your Dropbox account to Tusky using OAuth. Tusky receives read-only access — it cannot modify or delete your Dropbox files.
2

Select content

Choose specific folders or files to migrate, or migrate your entire Dropbox.
3

Start migration

Tusky downloads files from Dropbox and uploads them to your chosen Tusky volume on the Walrus network.
4

Verify and switch

Once complete, verify your content through your Tusky aggregator and update application references to use the new Tusky URLs.

Configuring the Migration

Dashboard

1

Navigate to Migrations → Dropbox Migration

Open the Tusky dashboard and go to Migrations → Dropbox Migration.
2

Connect Dropbox

Click Connect Dropbox and complete the OAuth authorization flow. You will be redirected back to Tusky after granting access.
3

Select content

Browse your Dropbox folder tree and select the folders or files to migrate.
OptionDescription
Entire DropboxMigrate all files and folders.
Selected foldersChoose specific top-level or nested folders.
Preserve folder structureRecreate the Dropbox folder hierarchy in the target volume.
4

Select target volume

Choose an existing volume or create a new one to receive the migrated files.
5

Configure storage options

Set the number of storage epochs and whether to enable auto-extend for the migrated files.
6

Start migration

Click Start Migration. Tusky begins downloading from Dropbox and uploading to Walrus.
Tusky requests read-only Dropbox access. It does not modify, move, or delete any files in your Dropbox account.

Monitoring Progress

The dashboard shows real-time migration status including:
  • Total files discovered
  • Files migrated successfully
  • Files failed (with error details)
  • Estimated time remaining
  • Total storage cost
Large Dropbox accounts may take several hours to migrate. The migration runs in the background — you can safely close the dashboard and will be notified upon completion.

Post-Migration

After the migration completes:
  1. Verify content — Spot-check files through your Tusky aggregator to confirm integrity.
  2. Update references — Replace Dropbox shared links in your application with Tusky aggregator URLs.
  3. Revoke Dropbox access (optional) — Disconnect Tusky from your Dropbox account in your Dropbox connected apps settings once the migration is done.
  4. Decommission Dropbox (optional) — Once all content is verified on Tusky, you can delete files from Dropbox to free up storage quota.
Tusky preserves original file names, folder structure, and MIME types from Dropbox. Your files are organized in the target volume exactly as they were in your Dropbox account.
